Demons, Daemons and Daimons
Evil presences, Daemons and Daimons Evil presences, Daemons and Daimons Evil presences, Daemons and Daimons By Maeve Maddox The three English words evil presence, daemon, and daimon all get from Greek Ã'î ±Ã® ¯Ã® ¼Ã¯â°Ã® ½ (daimã'n), the word for a soul that filled in as a connection between the human and awesome circles. Daimons could be big-hearted or vindictive. They were a lot of lower in the awesome pecking order than divine beings like Jupiter and Diana. In first century Rome, a great method to drive an agnostic mad was to allude to every one of his divine beings as daimons. In Christian works the word was utilized to mean agnostic god or unclean soul. A lot later, when the Bible was converted into Old English, evil spirit was rendered as fiend. One sort of daimon perceived by agnostics was a considerate soul, a watchman holy messenger that went to the person from birth to death. This individual virtuoso was a sort of soul. Its probably the idea of daimon as soul that underlies the daemons of Philip Pullmans His Dark Materials set of three. Some of Pullmans perusers were pestered by the way to express daemon as [däméâ¢n] in the film The Golden Compass (2007). In spite of the fact that Merriam-Webster and the OED demonstrate that both devil and daemon are articulated the equivalent, Id surmise that numerous a quiet peruser has been giving daemon an alternate mental elocution. In any event one IMDb reporter proclaims by and large that he intends to articulate daemon day-mon so as to recognize Pullmans supportive little soul animals from vindictive evil presences. The word daimon [dä «mÃ¥ n], with the significance of directing soul, is a tenderfoot to English (soonest OED reference 1852). With its distinctive articulation, daimon remains as a potential exchange decision for authors who need the feeling of the word without the disarray with evil spirit. Vannesa Quality Management and Productivity/MGT 449 September 13 Total Quality Pioneers In this paper, quality and elements will be defined, a description on how the quality pioneerââ¬â¢s use of total quality elements made the pioneer successful, explanation on why the elements of quality are useful in todayââ¬â¢s environment, and the foresee future of quality. Quality can mean different things depending on the industry being discussed. Quality can be defined as a dynamic state associated with products, services, people, processes, and environment that meets or exceeds expectations and helps produce superior valueâ⬠(GoetschDavis,2010). Elements important to an organization are vision, mission, objectives, customer focus, obsession with quality, commitment, continual improvement, education, and training. The elements assist organizations with creating a new foundation and maintaining a structure that may allow an organization to be successful if the elements are utilized an d there is continual improvement. There are three well-known quality pioneers known for the use of total quality elements. The pioneers are W. Edwards Deming, Joseph M. Juran, and Philip B. Crosby. The United States and international countries did not warmly welcome Deming and the United States dismissed Deming as the United States believed there was little competition with international countries and his opinion was not needed. After World War II, Japan had to make a change from producing raw materials to producing consumer goods. This change put Japan up against other countries and Japan was not having much success with the new change. Japan contacted Deming for his expertise advice and was open to making the appropriate changes needed in order to be successful. The turn around for Japan was using Demingââ¬â¢s fourteen point structure. ââ¬Å"The fourteen points summarize Demingââ¬â¢s views on what an organization must do to effect a positive transition from business a s usual to world glass qualityâ⬠(GoetschDavis,2010). Joseph M. Juran founded an institute named Juran Institute Inc which is an international leader in conducting training, research, and consulting activities in the area of quality managementâ⬠(GoetschDavis, 2010). Juran is best known for his three basic steps to progress, ten steps to quality improvement, Pareto Principle, and the Juran trilogy. Juran advises organizations to focus their improvement by identifying and eliminating problems or sources of their problems. Philip B. Crosby is best known for his advocacy of zero defects management and prevention, quality vaccine and fourteen steps to quality improvement. Crosby has a successful background in quality, formed Philip Crosby Associates, and then spent his time giving lectures on quality related issues. Many organizations have used the pioneerââ¬â¢s methods and have been able to turn around their organizations. Elements of quality are useful in todayââ¬â¢s environment because the elements give organizations specific instructions and structure in order to be successful. If organizations are willing to follow basic steps, Jurans ten step, or Demingââ¬â¢s fourteen steps, then an organization has a good chance at turning their current situation around and becoming successful. Qualityââ¬â¢s future will continue as long as competition exists. Organizations will continue to utilize the three pioneerââ¬â¢s elements in order to maintain structure, provide quality product and service. Organizations must have a strong, clear plan set in place, and have the organizations full commitment in order to be successful. The changes cannot happen over night and organizations will need to be patient and allow the changes to take its course. The three pioneers W. Edwards Deming, Joseph M. Juran, and Philip B. Crosby have proven their total quality elements have assisted organizations in being successful. Many organizations continue to use th eir methods to keep their organization structured. OUTLINE ââ¬â GEOGRAPHY AND GIDLOCK IN THE UNITD STATES What is the Problem? (p.104) - One of the few countries in the world that combines a two-party system with a presidential form of government. Most former British colonies with single-member districts and strict two-party system have a parliamentary form of government. - Since 1950 the president has presided over two-thirds of a partisan legislative majority. - Requiring the president to assemble the votes not only of co-partisans, but also of some members of the opposition party. The executive must gather votes from the opposition party that control at least part of the legislative agenda. - The lack of a unified government in the presence of partisan conflict has brought about a legislative agenda producing drama and uncertainty, even over votes that are clearly in the public interest. (E.g. funding the government or avoiding default) - Additionally, party leaders have gathered greater control of congressional process limiting bills that could achieve bipartisan support from reaching the legislative floor. Reinforcing the publicââ¬â¢s opinion of polarized politics and generating a cycle of inactive legislation. - Since the end of WWII, the parties have experienced a geographic division, where the Democrats have become the party of inner city, the low-income suburb, and the postindustrial towns, while the Republicans have become the party of white suburbs, exurbs and the rural periphery. The Grapes Of Wrath By Ma Joad - 1401 Words
Ma Joad: Keeping her family in line since 1939 In a time where women were considered inferior, The Grapes of Wrath uses secondary characters, specifically Ma Joad, to demonstrate a woman taking charge in a family setting, and the relationships of such a woman with others. Ma helps amplify the theme of feminism and womenââ¬â¢s rights in different scenarios. Her relationships with Pa, her daughter Rose of Sharon, and even herself all convey different elements of an extraordinary leader and an amazing mother. Ma and Paââ¬â¢s relationship throughout The Grapes of Wrath defies the idea of a normal couple in the era of the Dust Bowl. They are represented very much as equals through the conflicts their family has to face, contrary to other couples,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In the rare case that Pa tries to take charge against Maââ¬â¢s will, she fights back with fervour: ââ¬Å"The whole group watched the revolt. They watched Pa, waiting for him to break into fury. They watched his lax hands to see the fists form. And Paââ¬â¢s anger did not rise, and his hands hung limply at his sides. And in a moment the group knew Ma had won. And Ma knew it too.â⬠(Steinbeck 218) The quote is extremely powerful, as it draws parallels back to the farmer families that look to the men to take over a situation: ââ¬Å"The women knew it was all right, and the watching children knew it was all right. Women and children knew deep in themselves that no misfortune was too great to bear if their men were whole.â⬠(Steinbeck 6) The Joads are rooted in this mentality as well, so they look to Pa to see him take control or reprimand Ma. However, contrary to the farmer families, Ma and Pa are not portrayed as submissive and dominant. Their characters are evenly matched, although Pa sometimes does not appreciate how outspoken Ma can be. With this well-developed character, John Steinbeck proved himself a pioneer of his time; there was no one of that era that would dare portray a husband and wife in such an equal setting. Having such self-confidence is something that Ma tried to instill in her daughter time and time again. Throughout The Grapes of Wrath, Ma attempts to teach Rose of Sharon how to be self-sufficient after she is
Abortion And Murder Essay Example For Students
Abortion And Murder Essay On January 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court, in two separate decisions, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, declared that Congress and the states had to adopt apolicy on abortion. Since then, abortion has been one of the most controversialissues in our country today. Every time the subject of abortion is raised, thesame question always comes up: should people have the right to terminate anunborn child? The answer is no. No person should have the right to terminate anunborn child which has not yet had the chance to live, no matter what the reasonis. Abortion is the termination of an alive, unborn child, which can experiencepain through the process of an abortion. There is no need to have an abortionwhen these children could be put up for adoption instead of being?aborted.? Abortion is the termination of alive, unborn children. How can a person decide just when an unborn fetus becomes a person withconstitutional rights. Many people disagree when a fetus becomes an actualperson, but the truth is that a fetus becomes a person at the time ofconception. An article entitled ?Pro-lofe and pro-choice? Yes?says that, ?From the moment of conception, the fetus is endowed with allthe genetic information that will enable its development into a full humanperson? (Church 108). Technology has advanced very much in the pasttwenty years and now with the aid of medical technology and the science offetology, doctors can prove that a fetus is an actual person as early asthirteen weeks of growth (Meyer 62-64). These facts only help to prove that afetus is an actual person, who deserves the chance to be born. Contrary tobelief, a fetus can actually feel pain. The observation of abortions onultrasound have been very disturbing. So disturbing, that many abortion doctorswho have seen the procedure, refuse to participate in abortion s again (Meyer62-64). An article entitled ?Fetal positions: Making Abortionrare? reports that, ?Bernard Nathanson, a former director of theNational Abortion Rights Action League, who performed thousands of abortions, repudiated the practice in the early 1980s after observing the apparent agonyof a fetus subjected to a suction-tip abortion? (Meyer 62-64). Modernneurology supports the claim that the fetus can experience pain, not justreflex. Reflexive reactions stimulate only the spinal column, but the morecomplex reactions that stimulate pain occur in the tiny portion of the braincalled the thalamus. Neurologists can detect the thalamus and thecentral-nervous-system functions in the human fetus as early as the eighth weekof growth (Meyer 62-64). So, how can people justify abortion by saying that afetus is not a person until the time of birth? There are currently one millionfive hundred thousand parents who are waiting to adopt a child. These parentscould give unwanted children love an d a place in which to grow up. Every year, nearly one million six hundred thousand unborn children are aborted. Accordingto the article ?Fetal positions: Making abortin rare?,?Women wanting to rid themselves of viable infants can generally do so aseasily by delivering them and then turning them over to adoptive parents as byaborting them? (Meyer 62-64). These unwanted children would be given tosomeone who would care for them as their own, and the mothers of these unbornchildren would not have to worry about the responsibility of raising them. Everyone would come out ahead, especially the unborn child. Abortionists claimthat unborn children are not human people. The article ?Pro-life andpro-choice? Yes? claims that, ?A potential human person is not yetan actual human person. Thus abortion, if repellent, is not exactlymurder? (Church 108). But on what possible justification can there be forthe termination of a seven month old unborn child, when heroic medical measuresare often taken to save an even younger child?s life at a mother?swish (Meyer 62-64). There is no way to say that an unborn fetus is not a humanperson when there are plenty of facts to claim that it is. Once a child isconceived, it is on its way to becoming a human person. There is no way to stopthe process of growth from happening, unless the fetus is aborted. Abortionistsalso claim that it is the right of a woman to be able to choose if she wants tohave an abortion. Jessica Feierman, whose mother is an abortion doctor, says,?I?m pro-choice because I believe t hat as women, we must be theones to make decisions about our bodies and we should have the right to be safewith whatever choices we make? (82). In the Roe v. Wade decision, theSupreme Court declared that the rights of the fetus never eclipsed those of themother (Meyer 62-64). But what of the rights of the unborn child? An unbornchild is incapable of protecting itself and needs someone to protect it fromharm. This someone should be it?s mother, but sadly, it is usually themother that the unborn child needs protection from. There needs to be some sortof law which protects these unborn children from needless death. There have beena few court cases in which unborn children have been protected. In 1981, thestate of Georgia obtained the right to make a mother have a caesarean section, against her will, to save her unborn child?s life. More of these types ofcases should be enforced to save the needless deaths of unborn children. .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c , .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .postImageUrl , .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c , .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c:hover , .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c:visited , .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c:active { border:0!important; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c:active , .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u78dc826f7114e6f93d7cecb7c0de5b2c:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: In 1794 The Temporary Capital Was In An Extreme St EssayAbortion is a subject throughout the world that desperately needs to beaddressed. The countless abolishing of unborn children needs to end. This is a collection of short stories without claiming to be moral, that I personally very important to me. Modern applied psychology are so fond of talking about how it should be, but much of their advice we already know. The Sexual Response Cycle
The Sexual Response Cycle When Masters and Johnson (1966) did their research studies, they did find that there are similarities between the sexual response cycle for men and the sexual response cycle for women. Masters and Johnson to used the term, "sexual response cycle" to describe the changes that occur in men's and women's bodies when the experience sexual arousal. For the purpose of this study, Masters and Johnson determined that the sexual response cycle should be divided into four distinct phases. These phases begin with excitement, proceeding then to plateau, and then one reaches a peak during orgasm, and then experiences the resolution phase.During the first phase of excitement that this study identifies, the subjects experience something that the study personnel refer to as vasocongestion. Vasocongestion is a condition in which the genital tissues swell as they begin to fill with blood and dilate. This occurs in both men and women as they begin to feel sexual arousal. It starts with her beauty in my eyes, it moves to ...When a man experiences vasocongestion, his genital tissues undergo pronounced changes. As blood diverts into the tissues of the penis, it enlarges both in length as well as in girth, becoming an erection. In younger men, vasocongestion can create an erection in three to eight seconds after sexual stimulation begins. While the penis is erect, it becomes hardened and rigid as if it were nothing more than skin covering over a bone. This condition is the basis for the popular slang term, boner. A man will also experience swelling in his testicles, nipples and in his earlobes. Vasocongestion also causes a thickening of the scrotal skin, making it less baggy.Similarly, when a woman experiences sexually arousal, vasocongestion causes swelling of her genital tissues. A woman will notice a swelling of the area surrounding the vaginal opening as well as in her nipples. Females...
